Durga Puja is not just a festival, it is a celebration of religion, culture, mythology, art and a lot more which only a Bengali can understand. Every year during the Durga Puja pandals are constructed keeping a theme in mind and this year, Santoshpur Lake Pally Puja used to use 4,000 kg of Turmeric to create pandal with Pandal Devi Durga statue.
The Pandal was opened publicly on Friday, which is the 'Tritia' or third day of Navratri. In addition to the statue, cooking bowls for decoration were also one of the main attractions.
Ok there is something interesting as well, you might wonder how did they get hands on 4000 kgs of turmeric right? Yes, the sponsor of the pandal is a spice manufacturer, he arranged this mammoth number of haldis. Ashok Jain - Marketing Director of JK Masale said, "Turmeric is a healthy item and that's why we chose the concept. It is beneficial for everything be it health or cosmetic. Haldi is also the main item of Maa Annapurna- main ingredients of any food. We are trying to spread its awareness".
One of the pandal visitors, Rajiv Lodha said, "This is a unique concept where eatable items have been used like Haldi for pandals. It will kill the negative energy with its positive energy. It seems really interesting to us".
