Durga Puja for 'Bongs' is always ‘Pujo’ and do not try to mess with the name. Its simply like calling ‘Roshogolla’ ‘Rasgulla’. Stop it.
Ask any Bengali regardless of them being theist or atheist, no one will object Durga Puja. It is simply because Durga Puja is not only about worshipping the Goddess, it is way more than that. It is about the culture, the art, food, warmth of family and friends and so much. Madness, right? Well, we love it!
1. Eating habi-jaabi at pandals Vs eating at home
I am the 80% habi-jaabi kind where I’ll eat everything available!
2. Meeting a girl while pandal hopping VS spending rest of life with her
Love at first sight and flirt at first chat is what goes on, with some bad choices, right?
3. During Navratri – Rest of India Vs Bengali
People staying out of Bengal are really tired of answering the same question over and over, “Navratri mein non-veg kha rahe ho!”
4. Things to do during pujo
Which one do you enjoy the most?
5. Durga puja style - Daywise
Saptami – Just getting warmed up for the puja with casual style and be a bhalo chhele.
Ashtami – Mostly to impress girls while giving pushpanjali.
Navami – Back to the bhalo chhele mode but keeping the style game strong for the ladies to look at you.
Dashami – Too much of work, can’t afford to wear jeans with all the heavy lifting of labra-khichudi!
No matter where a Bengali is, they will either enjoy their culture especially in a Durga Puja or else they will sob thinking that they are not in Kolkata or their hometown in the biggest annual event. The simple thing is, you take a Bengali out of Bengal but clearly, you will always fail on taking the Bengali out of them!
