With movies like ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ and ‘Bareily Ki Barfi’, director Ashwini Iyer Tiwary has cemented her place as one of the most sought out female director in Indian film industry. She is now all set for her third film titled ‘Panga’ and it stars Kangana Ranaut in the lead role.
The film will revolve around the Indian sport ‘Kabaddi’ and things like family values and relationships will be thrown in this drama.
Ashwini talked about the film and said: “A story that needs to be told and I’m telling it at the right time. That it’s also linked to a sport makes it more challenging.”
She also talked about her budding friendship with no-filter Kangana Ranaut, she told how Kangana came on board, she said: “She instantly called me back and asked why I was introducing myself. I met her on April 14, the South Indian New Year, and soon after the narration, she was on board, saying I was her first woman director.”
Recently, the news was out that Ashwini had Kangana signed a no-interference clause for the film, both Kangana and Ashwini denied this news, Ashwini said: “I like to make my own judgments on work, interactions, and equations. No one has the right to pass snap judgments on my personal relationships. My equations have always been cordial and I trust Kangana to bring this character alive and she trusts me.”
