Netflix is growing rapidly in India and for all the right contents. Till now Netflix has been serving India with Hindi contents which are small budgeted yet high quality content but with the hit that all the contents have generated just made the streaming website huge. Now looking at their popularity, Netflix have announced 11 films and most of which will be produced by big Bollywood names like Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Madhuri Dixit Nene and Anushka Sharma. Some of the other reliable and big names include Rishi Kapoor, Abhay Deol, Neena Gupta, Mithila Palkar, Manav Kaul, Aparshakti Khurrana and Usha Jadhav for various projects.
Here are detailed list of the original projects by Netflix:
15th August: for the first time, Madhuri Dixit is turning producer with 15th August. This is a Marathi film, set in a Mumbai chawl. The story will deal with the struggles of middle-class India and what is freedom.
Soni: Directed by Ivan Avr, Soni, it tells a story of a young Delhi policewoman. The movie has already premiered at Venice Film Festival.
Music Teacher: This is a story of an unsuccessful musician and how life takes an unexpected turn after a Bollywood sensation visits his town for a show. This movie stars Manav Kaul, Divya Dutta, Amrita Bagchi and Neena Gupta.
Fireband: This will be produced by Priyanka Chopra and Madhu Chopra's Purple Pebble Pictures. Another Marathi film which will tell a story of a successful lawyer, a sexual assault victim and how she deals with all these issues. The lead for the film will be played by Usha Jadhav.
Chopsticks: Starring Abhay Deol and Mithila Palkar, the movie is about an under confident but talented girl played by Mithila Parker. In order to seek out a con, she takes help from a gangster played by Abhay Deol.
Bulbul: Produced by Anushka Sharma's Clean Slate Films, the movie is period series set with age old beliefs and superstitions.
Hotel Mumbai: Directed by Anthony Marras and an ensemble cast of Dev Patel, Armie Hammer and Jason Isaacs. The movie will be released as a Netflix original in 2019.
Bard of Blood: Produced by Shah Rukh Khan's Red Chillies and starring Emraan Hashmi, this is scheduled to release on 2019.
Rajma Chawal: This will mark the Netflix debut for Rishi Kapoor with a light-hearted story which will show a family in the age of social media. It will be available from November 30, 2018 on Netflix.
The Rise of Sivagami: A spin off to the mammoth film, Baahubali. Neflix spokesperson said, “We’re excited that Baahubali will find a global audience just like the films did. I think the series gives us the freedom to explore the origins of Sivagami.”
