Aamir Khan’s mega-budget fantasy affair ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’ proved to be a dud at the box office. The film was released amidst a lot of hype which helped the film collect a huge number of INR 50 crores on Day 1 but as the negative word of mouth caught fire, the film went on a downward spiral and the things have been bad since then.
On Monday, the film saw a dip of 90 percent which is very saddening considering it was an Aamir Khan film, who has a reputation of delivering solid numbers at the box office. In fact, his last release Dangal is the highest earning film of India but destiny had some other plans and TOH will be Aamir’s and probably India’s biggest flop till date. The film is made on a lavish budget of 300 crores and with the ongoing trend, the film will not be able to earn even 150 crores at the box office.
The film was heavily panned by critics and audience for its poor content, caricature-like characters, and uninspiring direction. Thugs of Hindostan had collected Rs 4.35 crore on Tuesday and ended the first week with a collection of mere Rs 3.50 on day 7 at the domestic market.
After such roadblocks, there is another thing that will be troubling TOH makers, the film had gotten the highest screen count in India, that is 5000 screens but looking at the performance, the screen count has been reduced to a meager 1500 screens.
The makers had high expectations from this film but everything went in vain.
