What made the most anticipated movie of 2018 a major failure in Bollywood? Has anyone ever really thought that the amalgamation of the two Bollywood biggies namely Amitabh Bachchan and Amir Khan would lead to an utter disaster? Never really!
Bollywood has since its inception made up a notion that big bannered films are meant to break the theatres and that this formula will irrevocably be continued till date when the generation has moved a step ahead and are looking for something that involves ground reality; something much more authentic and are really away from impractical VFX and CGIs.
Not the casts but the story have come forward to take a greater place in the cinema in recent years if observed. In the last couple of years, Bollywood has witnessed a rise and respect for actors who in spite of having no filmy background has achieved fame just by being themselves, and that's exactly what the audience has loved and asked for more. Coming up with stories that have no relevance with the society and its people are ought to fall apart eventually.
The Indian audience has risen above and beyond the unrealism and has proved themselves now to be more pragmatic by appreciating the low budget films. It's time for the filmmakers to focus more on actuality and naturality rather than putting all its money on the grandeur of the set and background; time for choosing the casts carefully and allotting roles to them even more cautiously so as to avoid any misfortune that may befall. We can just hope for a bigger and of course better Bollywood if they promise to win our hearts by not making silly movies anymore. Of course, the second day of 'Thugs of Hindustan' has described it well!
