Ever since Bollywood got cursed by the number game, the quality of films substantially has dropped. We got many Ra.One and Dhoom 3, films that created havoc at the box office but were really pukish, to say the least.

Thankfully, 2018 came in as a breath of fresh air where small budgeted films worked wonders at the box office because the content was the king; while films like Race 3 and TOH tanked badly and my filmy keeda cannot be more happy with this news.

So, today, we have listed films which set the box office ringing solely because of the quality content:-

1). Raazi

Released in the second quarter of 2018, Raazi was made on a budget of INR 40 crores and garnered around INR 150 crores. The extraordinaire acting prowess of Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kaushal complimented this gripping espionage thriller. The film gained immense critical acclaim upon release.

2). Badhaai Ho

The film emerged as the most profitable film of the year and it was made on a shoestring budget of INR 25 crores. The film tackled the storm of ‘Thugs Of Hindostan’ very well, some cinema halls provided ‘Badhaai Ho’ more shows than ‘TOH’ and that is the power of good content. This hilarious film is still running in theatres and has garnered around INR 132.65 crores as of now.

3). Stree

This horror comedy made us cry laughing with its unique concept and exemplary comic situations. Made with a budget of 20 crores, the film was loved by the audience and thus it entered the 100 crore club in just 18 days. Rajkumar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi were the stars of this rib-tickling drama, I absolutely loved this film.

4). Mulk

One of the most important films of recent times presented a courtroom drama about a Muslim family who was getting questioned about their love for the country. Rishi Kapoor and Tapsee Pannu nailed the performances and the film went on to become a hit by garnering INR 27 crores at the box office. The film was made on a minimal budget of INR 18 crores.

5). Andhadhun

And, here comes the best film of the year. This Sriram Raghwan thriller was a film we all deserved to watch as an audience. The film had many edge of the seat moments that left our hearts pounding; Tabu and Ayushman’s crackling chemistry made this film a huge affair of the year. The film collected around INR 75 crores at the box office, despite getting a minimal release. The film was made on a budget of INR 25 crores.
