Rajeev Masand finally sits with the pack that has not only won millions of heart but, has given major goals when it comes to acting. Yes, we’re talking about none other the wolf pack- Ranveer Singh(Padmavati), Ayushmaan Khurana(Badhai ho), Rajkumar Rao(Stree), Vicky Kaushal(Manmarziyaan) and Pankaj Tripathi(Stree). This year has observed the emergence of some genuine talent that has won over the wrong notion of nepotism and genetic talents. Thanks to the audience, though for raising their level from mainstream Bollywood films to vesting their faiths in off-beat cinema.
CNN, News 18’s Rajeev Masand, brings together the path-breakers in a roundtable for a cheerful interrogation. He started with the eagerness to know whether the actors discuss with each other about the “craft” of acting with each other and not just about the business of the industry; to which the quirkiest man Ranveer Singh replied “It depends on who you gel with. I remember during Talaash, I had a detailed chat with Aamir (Khan) sir about how he prepares for his different roles. He was kind enough to chat with me for three hours, and speak about his experiences.” He further added, “I only gossip!”
Rajeev went on asking about what was the most challenging thing that they had to do for taking up a role. To this Ayushmaan answered “Carrying a girl who weighed 90 kilos when I weighed 67 kilos in Dum Laga Ke Haisha. My trainer told me to behave like a coolie.” Pankaj Tripathi added that it’s about jumping from your own character to a completely different one, is what seems challenging. Rajkumar confessed it was way too hard for him during Newton when he lost his mother. Ayushmaan further recalled how during the promotion of Andhadhun and Badhai Ho, he had to face the news of his wife Tahira’s cancer.
The content-driven film ride has now found a new pace and fans are in ecstasy to have found their new heroes in town. Not the big bannered movies but, the films that have a rich script is supposed to win hearts now. That’s what the actors equally agreed upon.
