The film is special as father-daughter duo Anil and Sonam will be sharing the screen space for the first time. There were many speculations doing rounds regarding the story of the film, now that the trailer is released every speculation has been burnt down.

The film will deal with the issue of homosexuality in small towns where Sonam Kapoor will be going against the world to get her love for another woman approved. The trailer opens with Rajkummar Rao (who is playing Sahil Mirza) inviting the audience to a play titled ‘Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga’, and as the trailer progresses we inter-cut between the characters and this play.
The film traces the story of Sweety played by Sonam Kapoor, who has always been taught that one day she will get married to her Prince Charming but as she grows up, she starts discovering herself and finds out that she is in fact, lesbian. When the news gets out and the world gets against her, she now must face all odds to win her love.
