The trailer showed some of the scenes where he was pressurized by his party, and wasn’t being able to take some decision by his own. Some have alleged that they have distorted the facts in the movie trailer. Reports had come that the movie would be banned in the congress-led states but the Congress government has denied these reports.

Maharashtra Youth Congress did threat that they would not let it release if it’s not shown to them first on which Anupam Kher said "They should be happy that a film has been made on their leader. They should bring the crowd to watch the film as it has dialogues such as 'Will I sell my country?' which shows how great Manmohan Singh Ji is.”

Anupam Kher also tweeted "I am not going to back off. This is my life's best performance. #DrManmohanSingh will agree after seeing the film that it is a 100% accurate depiction"

On the 134th anniversary celebration of the Congress party in the Congress office Manmohan Singh was asked “What do you think about the film made about you?” He didn’t speak anything on it, and left.

The movie will release in theatres on 11th January, 2019.
