In a 50 overs game, we have seen the teams collapse under the score of 100. But did you know that, that’s not even near to the lowest the teams have scored. Whether the bowlers killed it, or the batting line-up was weak, but here are the 5 lowest ODI scores ever:

5) Sri Lanka: 43 Runs vs South Africa (2004)

With Amla’s century, and Kallis-AB de Villiers hitting half centuries Sri Lanka had a target of 302 runs in 50 overs. M Morkel, and LL Tsotsobe devastated their batting line-up, and made Sri Lanka collapse at a score of 43 runs in 20 overs.

4) Pakistan: 43 Runs vs West Indies (1993)

West Indies won the toss and elected to field first. Courtney Walsh and Anderson Cummins devastated the team and bowled them out at a mere score of 43 runs, which was achieved by the West Indian batsmen in 12 overs. This was the lowest score by a team at that time.

3) Zimbabwe: 38 Runs vs Sri Lanka (2001)

Chaminda Vaas was the king of this game, his world-beating 8 wickets (8-19) off 8 overs in the match thrashed the Zimbabwe team and they achieved the lowest score in just 4 overs. The game came up with a lot of statistical records for the year 2001:

• It was the shortest match
• Had the best bowling figures
• Lowest total of a team
• Lowest match-aggregate

2) Canada: 36 Runs vs Sri Lanka (2003)

Well, Canada is not known for their cricketing skills but still they made a record here. In this match Canada batted first, with Chaminda Vaas’s 3 and Prabath Nissanka’s 4 wickets the team somehow managed to score 36 runs in this 50-over game which was achieved by Sri Lanka in just 4 overs.

1) Zimbabwe: 35 Runs vs Sri Lanka (2004)

Yes, 35 runs in a 50-over game is the lowest score of a team till date. Again Chaminda Vaas lashed out the Zimbabwe batting line up with his 4-11, other bowlers Maharoof 3-3 and Fernando 2-18 did also perform well. Sri Lanka won the game by 9 wickets.

Sri Lanka has been a part of the 4 games out of 5 that come in the lowest score ODIs. The lowest record of Zimbabwe has not been broken for 15 years now.
