The Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise is one of the most successful franchises out there, the films did not just made billions of dollars but also earned Johnny Depp a global recognition in the pop culture arena. But, now the Disney studio is making some amendments in the franchise and is planning to reboot it where Depp’s character will not be involved.
Disney took this decision because of their ever-growing differences with their lead star. Earlier, Johnny used to demand a handsome percentage from the profit that would use to go up to $100 million that is a mammoth INR 700 crores. Now, that Depp has been shown the exit door, the studio will be saving a hell lot of money. Though, it is uncertain if the upcoming films will be able to create the same impact without Johnny.
The once powerful star Johnny Depp is going through a rough patch these days, his last few films - Mortdecai, Alice Through the Looking Glass, Transcendence, The Lone Ranger - have been box office disappointments and his upcoming film City of Angels has also been shelved. He was also accused of physical abuse by his ex-wife Amber Heard and a lawsuit demanding alimony was filed against him.
Recently, Disney’s chief also confirmed Johnny’s exit from the film’s franchise. Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick working on a new story and it is speculated that the new film will have a woman on as a front-runner.
As for Johnny, things are getting bad, ugly and worse.
