No one can disagree with the title of this article that he is a gentleman, he has shown it on the field as well as in real life. Cricket is known as the gentleman’s game, and with Rahul Dravid in it the phrase totally suits the sport. He debuted in tests on 20th June, 1996 with Sourav Ganguly, and scored 95 against England at Lord’s. The way he batted for more than six hours in his first match, and walked even before the umpire’s decision did give us some thoughts of him becoming The Wall.

Dravid has 13,288 runs with 35 centuries-63 half centuries in tests, and 10,889 runs with 12 centuries-83 half centuries in ODIs. The highest score of him is 270 in tests, and 153 in ODIs. The most memorable wins that he has given is the Adelaide Test win against the Aussies in 2003 where he scored a massive 233 and 2007 Test series win in Pakistan with his 270. These are some of his team mates who have wished him on his birthday,

He has been a captain, a wicket-keeper, an opener, has played down order, and has done all the things that the team has ever asked him to. He has been overshadowed by the performance of the other batsmen many a times but that couldn’t stop him from being respected as a cricketer. He is right now the coach of the Under 19 team, and that even got them the World Cup.
