Menopause has become a common problem among women who are in their late 40s mainly because of the painful symptoms it carries. Menopause is not a disease but a natural part of life. Risk factors and symptoms cannot be changed but here are 5 tips for a healthy and easy menopause.
1. Exercise regularly
Exercise during menopause is very beneficial and has range of advantages including preventing weight gain, reduced risk of cancer and heart problems, better health, healthier joints and bones and good mood.
2. Drink plenty of water
During menopause, women often experience dryness. So, make it a rule and drink 8-12 glasses of water each day. It helps in keeping the body hydrated and also prevents bloating which is usual during menopause. Drinking adequate amount of water can also help preventing weight gain as it makes you feel full.
3. Eat more and more fruits and vegetables
Have at least 4-5 fruits and vegetables every day. Fruits and vegetables have low calories and hence prevent weight gain. They also help prevent a large number of diseases including heart diseases. A diet rich in fruits and vegetable can help prevent a number of menopause symptoms.
4. Eat phytoestrogens rich diet
Eat phytoestrogen-rich diet consistently, for example, tofu, soya milk, desserts, pulses like butter beans or chickpeas, soya and linseed and sesame seed bread. Phytoestrogens in food content help in balancing hormones in menopausal women.
5. Keep a watch on stimulants
Certain stimulants like caffeine, alcohol and foods that are sugary or spicy trigger mood swings, night sweats and hot flashes. Keep a track of the stimulants you’re having and try to reduce their consumption. Also, avoid smoking.
