Filmmaker Abhishek Chaubey who boasts of filmography that includes works like ‘Ishqiya’ series and ‘Udta Punjab’ is all set to wow the audience with his next titled ‘Sonchiriya’. The film’s trailer was well received and the film looks like a great action drama set in the hinterland of Chambal. The stellar cast of the film adds another feather to its cap.

Ever since the trailer release, people were speculating as to why Abhishek chose ‘Sonchiriya’ as the title of the film, well, in a recent interview Abhishek answered this question, he said: “Sonchiriya is the name of a bird, the great Indian Bustard, that is found in Chambal. It’s a very rare species of bird and I think it’s endangered too. We kept it as the title of the film as one of the characters of the film is called that. Who it is, you will get to know when you will watch the film. Also, all the primary characters in the film are looking for freedom and deliverance. They are looking for some sort of meaning to their lives and thus, we have played it in a way as if they are looking for their inner Sonchiriya. It’s a lot of fun when you hear the name of the film as Sonchiriya, which is a soft, nice and a sweet word, but when you watch the visuals of the film, they are pretty opposite.”

Abhishek was also asked about the possibility for a third part of the very popular ‘Ishqiya’ series, Abhishek replied: “If someone comes up with a story, I will do that. I have completely run out of ideas as far as the Ishqiya franchise is concerned. But I love Naseer Bhai and Arshad Warsi and I will do anything to work with them again.”

Meanwhile, Sonchiriya is all set to hit the theatres on March 1.
