Who is Sam Manekshaw
Sam Manekshaw was the former Chief of the Army of India. He was born on April 3, 1914 and died June 27, 2008. He was the first officer of the Indian Army to get Field Marshal's rank. In 1971, under his leadership, the Indo-Pak war was fought. His marvellous military career began with the British Indian Army and lasted for 4 decades, during which there were five wars. He was awarded Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan.
