The film will release on Holi and it is a period drama telling the heroic tale of Saragahi battle where 21 Sikhs fought bravely against a vast army of Afghan invaders. Talking about the film, Akshay Kumar mentioned: "I have had one of the best times doing the action sequences for Kesari because they were so raw. It was completely out of the world. The very premise of the film is something which swells my chest with pride. It is the story about the courage of 21 Sikh soldiers who fought against 10,000 invaders to defend their honour. The film also touches upon the never give up attitude the Sikhs have."

Reportedly, the project bankrolled by Karan Johar had cost him around INR 60 crores for the making and since the movie is releasing around the festival of Holi, there are high chances that the film will easily sail through to emerge victorious.

Meanwhile, Akshay is busy shooting for one more Dharma Productions venture titled ‘Good News’, where he will be seen sharing screen space with Kareena, Diljit and Kiara Advani as well.
