Indian spinner Yazuvendra Chahal is currently facing backlash from cricket fanatics in India, for his terrible performance in the last ODI against Australia. Chahal gave 80 runs in 10 overs and took just one wicket. People are trolling him like anything and amidst all the chaos, legendary spinner Muttiah Muralitharan has come forward to support the young lad.
Muralitharan defended Chahal and said: “You cannot expect the kid to pick five wickets every time he goes out to bowl. He is a champion bowler and has been bowling really well in the last two years. He has shown that he has the variety and the guile to dismiss opposition batsmen, it is a case of him failing in one game and trust me, he is no robot. You cannot put pressure on the boy by expecting him to deliver in every game. Have some patience. How many games has he played? Around 50? Are you telling me he has played so many ODIs for the country just like that? Let us be patient with the boy.”
Chahal must have sighed a sense of relief after this and we are keeping our fingers crossed that the young lad will improve his game in the upcoming matches because the fact is that the young gun is actually very talented and we should give him another chance.
Meanwhile, the Indian team is prepping up for the next match that is scheduled to be played at Virat Kohli’s hometown Delhi.
