In the ongoing India-Australia series, M S Dhoni played the first three games and was rested for the last two. The start of the series was quite good for the wicketkeeper-batsman as he hit a half century and that led the team to get a lead in the series. But in the second game he failed and got out at duck, Indians won the match though. In the third ODI Indians lost the game, and Dhoni didn’t perform that good either which resulted in him resting for the last two ODIs. There in the fourth ODI, Rishabh Pant replaced Dhoni but he failed behind the stumps, India lost the game again and that made everyone feel the absence of MSD and there was a strong call for his comeback.
Today the last game of the series that is the series decider is going on, and Rishabh Pant is playing for the team. Dhoni did hit three consecutive half centuries and got the Man of the series award, and in the first game of this series he did get a 50 as well. Even then the criticism of Dhoni has been coming from some of the sportsmen and audience for being sluggish while batting. But Dhoni has proved his power of presence in the team with his bat as well as the leadership skills that he shares with Virat Kohli.
Shane Warne feels that Dhoni’s experience is a need for the Indian Team in the World Cup, 2019 and those people who are criticizing him do not understand anything about his batting and the captaincy skills. Warne said, “MS Dhoni is a great player. He can bat anywhere whatever the team needs. He is adaptable and anyone criticising him has no idea what they’re talking about. India need him in the World Cup. They need his experience and leadership skills on field to help Virat Kohli as well”
