Actress Shraddha Kapoor who was finalized to fill the shoes of badminton player Saina Nehwal in her biopic had to train for months before starting the shoot in September 2017 but soon after she was diagnosed with dengue and the shoot had to stall. In the meantime, director Amol Gupte shot other portions of the film and expected Shraddha to return by April.
But, things are not going as planned as Shraddha might not be able to go ahead and join the ‘Saina Nehwal Biopic’ team in April because her schedule is tightly packed. She is busy in the promotions of ‘Saaho’, then she is also shooting with Varun Dhawan for ‘Street Dancer’ and soon she will begin shooting with Tiger Shroff for ‘Baaghi 3’.
Seeing such conditions, producer Bhushan Kumar asked Shraddha to focus on other projects and now Shraddha has been replaced by Parineeti Chopra. Film critic Taran Adarsh also confirmed the news in a tweet that read: “IT’S OFFICIAL... Parineeti Chopra to play renowned badminton player #SainaNehwal... She will start training for the biopic soon... Directed by Amole Gupte... Produced by Bhushan Kumar... Filming will be completed by 2019-end... Early 2020 release.”
Meanwhile, the team of ‘Saina Nehwal Biopic’ is all set to welcome their new lead on sets and soon Parineeti will start shooting for the much-awaited sports drama. Currently, she is busy in the promotions of ‘Kesari’ where she is paired alongside Akshay Kumar and the film is all set to release on March 21.
