With the summer around the corner, it is exactly that time of the year again when you need to hoard your sunscreen supplies or else you have to go through a horrible tan or in worse cases, a sunburn.
Applying sunscreen gently to all the exposed parts of the skin is one of the lesser known steps taken while stepping out in the sun. This is why the cosmetic shops are flooded with various types of sunscreens and sunblocks to act as a veil to our skin from the harmful effects of UVA and UVB rays.The damage they can do is manifold ranging from premature skin aging to even severe dermal disease. So, precaution should be taken accordingly, to protect ourselves against these scorching rays by switching to high SPF content sunscreen and opting for full-sleeved clothing when you go out.


But, it’s still unclear as to what harm does these indoor light inflicts. Do these lights emit the harmful UV rays as well? Let us explore this fact as well.
In case you forgot what UV rays are- UV rays or the Ultraviolet radiation is actually one of the most harmful rays emitted by the sun. These rays are also a major cause and reason behind skin cancer.


The light bulbs and tube lights or rather the fluorescent lights that are present in our households do emit UV radiation in small amounts. So is there any chance of getting tanned by switching on these lights at home or worse skin cancer?


According to the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA), these lights and their emission of UV rays won’t cause any harm if you are using them in a correct manner. Nevertheless, make yourself sure that you do not suffer from any UV light sensitivity.
