Recently, Filmfare Awards were distributed where the whole of Bollywood fraternity marked their presence. The biggest honours of Best Actor/Actress were fetched by Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt respectively but this hasn’t gone down well with many Deepika fans, Deepika was nominated in the same category for her portrayal of Rani Padmavati in the film ‘Padmaavat’ and lost the award to Alia Bhatt.
One of the major ‘Deepika Padukone’ fan clubs recently took to social media to express the angst. They claimed that Filmfare awards were biased and the decision was unfair as the ‘Best Actress’ should have been given to Deepika. Deepika saw this post and replied: “To all my fans, I am sorry I let you down and promise to work harder than ever before.”
Meanwhile, she has started shooting Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Chappak’, the first look of which was revealed recently. Deepika will be essaying the role of acid victim survivor Laxmi Agarwal in the film and the first look of her character was appreciated by one and all. The actress talks about the project and says: "Meghna walked into the office and took me through the story. In five minutes of speaking with her, I knew in my heart that this is what I wanted to do next. Something about Meghna herself, Laxmi's story and Meghna's conviction in this film... It was very similar to Piku. In just five minutes of meeting the director, I knew that this is the film I wanted to do."
Chappak is all set to release in Jan 2020 and also features Vikrant Massey in a pivotal role.
