Here are five times that food-related mistakes happened and become happy accidents as they created some great treats.

Cornflakes were invented when a granola recipe went wrong

It is the incident happened in 1898, brothers W.K. Kellogg and John Harvey Kellogg flaked the wheat berry of the accident as they were actually trying to make granola. Then W.K Kellogg decided to try flaking corn and this is how Corn Flakes were invented, that you almost have in your breakfast every morning.

Broken Soda Fountain gave birth to the ICEEs, also known as Slurpee

Omar Knedlik, who is the holder of a Dairy Queen in Coffeyville, Kansas, improvised when his soda fountain broke when summer was in its full swing, in the '50s by placing soda bottles in his deep freeze mode. As a result, the soda arose out snowy and partially frozen, and Knedlik found that customers started liking it that way. After this accident, they became available in nearby stores in 1960.

Chocolate chip cookies weren’t supposed to have chocolate chips in it

Yes, those chocolate cookies that are your favorite were not supposed to made by the chef, but in reality Ruth Graves Wakefield of the Toll House Inn in Whitman, Massachusetts were trying to make a batch of chocolate butter drop do cookies, but she was out of baker’s chocolate. So as the substitute she thought of using chopped Nestle semi-sweet chocolate bar and figured it would melt completely into the batter. But the chocolate stayed in gooey, melted chunks.
