Before we don’t have any clue or any picture of black hole, some artists tried their hand to make the picture. Before the event that happened today, had been trying by many scientists since many decades, and to them it seems like a project that is next to impossible. But it was Prof Heino Falcke, of Radboud University in the Netherlands, who proposed the experiment, told that Black hole was found in a galaxy called M87.

Astronomers have taken the image of the black hole, which is somewhere in a distant galaxy. It is measures 40 billion km across- three million times the size of the earth and it has been named by the scientists as- ‘the monster’. Black hole was photographed for the first time by the network of eight telescopes across the world. And these eight telescopes were made by Katie Bouman, who is the MIT student. She developed the algorithm that pieced together the data from the EHT. Without her contribution the project would not have been possible.

“What we see is larger than the size of our entire Solar System,” Prof Heino Falcke said. “It has a mass 6.5 billion times that of the Sun. And it is one of the heaviest black holes that we think exists. It is an absolute monster, the heavyweight champion of black holes in the Universe” he added.

“We have achieved something presumed to be impossible just a generation ago," he said. "Breakthroughs in technology, connections between the world's best radio observatories, and innovative algorithms all came together to open an entirely new window on black holes."

The team is also imaging the super massive black hole at the centre of our own galaxy, the Milky Way. But the it is not from galaxy, instead it is found in M87 galaxy.
