Sunrisers Hyderabad defeated Kings XI Punjab by 45 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday in the 48th IPL match. This is the fifth consecutive defeat for Punjab on this ground.

Hyderabad, batting first in this match, scored 212 for six wickets in 20 overs. Punjab’s team could only manage 167 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Warner played 81 runs knock in this match for Hyderabad. It was his last match of this season before he returns to Australia to prepare for the World Cup. He scored a total of 692 runs in the 12 matches this season.

Lokesh Rahul scored 79 runs for Punjab. He hit four fours and five sixes in 56 balls. He was dismissed by Khalil Ahmed. Chris Gayle scored four runs Mayank Agarwal contributed 27 runs. He shared a 60-run partnership with Rahul for the second wicket.

Punjab won the toss and decided to bowl. Warner of Hyderabad scored 81 runs in 56 balls with seven fours and two sixes. This was his 44th and 8th half-century in the season. He was awarded the Man of the Match award. Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin took two wickets each for Punjab.

Riddhimaan Saha and Warner gave Hyderabad a quick start. Both added 78 runs for the first wicket. Hyderabad scored 77 runs in the Powerplay. Saha became the victim of Ashwin by making 28 runs in 13 balls. Warner shared an 82-run second wicket partnership with Manish.

Gayle’s team has never chased 200+ score till now. So far nine times in IPL, it has happened that the team that Gayle is playing with were invited to chase a target of 200+ runs.
