Public sector telecom company BSNL has become the first company to launch an optical fiber-based broadband service in Pulwama, Jammu, and Kashmir. The company has started a service called ‘Bharat Fiber’ there. BSNL Director (Consumer Fixed Access) Vivek Banjal said in a statement: “This is the first home to Fiber Services (FTTH), which has been set up in the Kashmir Valley under the unique revenue service model.”

He said, “Since India is based on fiber service optical fiber and it has been delivered to the consumers’ premises, this will give customers reliable and high-speed Internet service.” He said that services will not be affected in adverse weather in general. BSNL is offering FTTH service in 160 telecommunication districts ranging from 777 rupees to 16,999 monthly charges.

Banjal said, “We have a plan to start this service in all the districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Those who are looking at business opportunities together with BSNL should contact local BSNL officials. Our team will talk about making network integration and facilitating revenue sharing process."

The service has been started by BSNL Chief General Manager (Jammu & Kashmir Circle) Rana Ashok Kumar Singh. Other officers of the telecommunications company were present on this occasion. Jio Giga Fiber is currently running in the testing phase.
