We do check our phones all the time, and most of the time we see notifications that are of no use to us. There are many applications in the phone, and at times those applications us send push notifications for no reason. We always wait for some important notification to come up in our phone, and the LED light or the vibration of the phone gives us hope. But when we check it out, there are notifications like “Get a job even if you are a 12th class pass” or “Don’t have someone to talk? Call on this number, and make friends”.

These notifications bring down all of our expectations from the notification to the ground level. We expect things like a text from our favourite person, likes on our post, retweets, new followers, and more. But most of the time it’s some worthless news, or a tweet that you haven’t seen. Why the hell would I need a notification for those things? We get a call, pick up and hear that it is some advertisement and that makes us press the ‘end call’ button as soon as we can. And the useless notifications come up the most when we are waiting for something important.

All we want at that time is to keep the phone on silent, hide the notifications of the applications, or even put the phone on airplane mode. We expect a lot from notifications just like we expect from the people we trust the most. We should keep as less applications as possible, like we should only keep the apps that we need the most to get rid of these kind of problems. There are also detailed notification settings for particular purpose on the different apps so check that out.
