Twenty million people were rescued 20 years ago i.e., in 1999, from a similar-sized cyclone hit Odisha. Then about 10 thousand people became victims of this disaster. This time the damage was reduced because the state and central government had received information about the storm quite early.

The entire preparation for dealing with any unpleasant situation was done at the battlefield. This time 1.2 million people were rescued. 26 lakhs of messages were given to all information. Apart from this, 43 thousand employees and volunteers were deployed to deal with the situation.

The Disaster Risk Reduction Department of the United Nations said that the losses were greatly reduced due to the exact warnings received from the Zero Zodiac Policy and Weather Warning System of the Government.

Those people have done a good job in terms of loss of life and property. Due to precise warnings, more than 1 million people were taken to safer places during the time. 300 high power boats stationed every moment.
