Broadcast Regulatory TRAI said on Friday that it is considering all options to make the TV setup box portable possible. The regulator has hoped that in collaboration with the industry, it will take its route by the end of this year.

This step is important. This is because they tie set-top boxes to the company after the service of a DTH service provider because the setup box for each company is different.

If a customer wants to change his service provider, then he has to spend a substantial amount of money to buy that company’s setup box. Apart from this the old setup box becomes unusable and becomes an electronic waste. Indian telecom service provider issued a statement saying it had organized a workshop with the goal of finding options to implement the portability of the Setup box.

Regarding the new system of payment of DTH and cable services under the channel, the regulator said that this will help in selecting the best option available in the market. TRAI said that portability of the setup box is very important in making the market more open and competitive and providing more options to the customers.

Let us tell you that at the beginning of this year, the TRAI DTH channel has come up with new rules for selection. According to TRAI’s new rule, consumers will have to pay only for those channels, which they want to see. New rules for TRAI are from March 1.
