Yet again, the 12th edition of ICC cricket world cup is the best chance for team India to triumph the world cup and lift the trophy again after 2011. While team India has played 5 matches and has not been defeated in any of the matches so far, still it marks its position on number 3 as one of the match got washed away in the tournament. Having said that one remarkable thing for team India in this world cup is that both batting and bowling have been tested well and while it was batsmen who mostly took India to the path of victory, in the previous match bowlers also stood proudly after defending a low score target.
Here is the light on some of the important statistics and where does India actually stand on these parameters.
1. Highest scorer match
Stunning 3 centuries including ‘The Warner’ factor made it possible to witness a good high scoring match in the world cup. In the match played between Australia and Bangladesh, a huge total of 714 runs were scored in total by both the teams, which remain the highest score in this year world cup so far. India is not very far behind and has successfully scored 352 runs for 5 wickets against Australia.
2. Lowest scorer match
While the 125 score of Afghanistan against South Africa is the lowest score so far, it was not a 50 over- match and the result came by D/L match. However, talking about India’s lowest it was in the latest match played against Afghanistan and the good part is India successfully defended the total.
3. Highest scorer and most number of runs
David Warner who is looking in good form has not only scored individual best score of 166 runs, he is also on the top when it comes to most number of runs in the tournament so far. Indian player Rohit Sharma is also close to Warner and has scored 140 runs, which remains India’s best individual score so far.
Mohammad Shami is the only player who has taken a hat-trick in the world cup so far. No other bowler has been able to touch this feat. He got hat trick in the match played against Afghanistan.
6. Most Centuries
Although there are 5 batsmen who have scored 2 centuries in the tournament Rohit Sharma is on the top of the list of the number of centuries so far as India has played less match when compared to other batsmen.
7. Most number of wickets
It is a worrying factor as India does not stand in top 10 bowlers of the tournament so far. Chahal is the highest wicket taking bowler for India with Bhuvneshwar and other bowlers not very behind, the highest wicket taking bowler of all the team remains Amir of Pakistan.
8. Number 1 points table
Team India looks good so far? What do you think it is the best chance yet again for Team India?
