In a time when Khans are still ruling Bollywood and young generation of actors are also gaining prominence, there are a few veterans actors who are going strong with time and are holding on to their ground firmly. One of them undoubtedly is Amitabh Bachchan and the other is Rishi Kapoor. The two power stars will be coming together for '102 Not Out' which has already created a great buzz. While we wait to see the two sizzle together on the silver screen, here are a few interesting facts about the upcoming comedy-drama...
The new poster of Umesh Shukla’s ageless comedy '102 Not Out' has been unveiled and it looks fun and quirky.'102 Not Out' brings the legends of Indian cinema Amitabh Bachchan and Rishi Kapoor, as father and son for the very first time, 27 years after their last film together. The poster bears the tagline- "Baap COOL beta OLD SCHOOL!"Billed as the most unusual father and son love story, '102 Not Out' is based on playwright Saumya Joshi’s well known Gujarati play by the same name and has been adapted into a feature by him.'102 Not Out' is produced by SPE Films India, Treetop Entertainment and Shukla’s Benchmark Pictures. The film releases worldwide on May 4, 2018.
Last seen together in 'Ajooba', these two veteran actors did not do a single film after that. It was certainly strange and many thought things were not too well between them after Rishi Kapoor disclosed in his biography that his relationship with Amitabh Bachchan had its ups and downs. However, all those speculations were put to rest when the film was announced with these two as leads. It will indeed be a landmark moment for Bollywood as '102 Not Out' marks the duo's reunion on the silver screen after almost 27 years.
'102 Not Out' is actually based on a Gujarati play of the same name. Filmmaker Umesh Shukla once disclosed that he was producing the play '102 Not Out' for almost six years after which he realised that the film had universal appeal. After all, the comedy-drama is based on a father-son relationship and the filmmaker felt it was an ageless movie. But staying true to the play, the movie too will have a Gujarati setting and is predominantly shot in Vile Parle in Mumbai.
Actors playing characters much older than their actual age is not new but a veteran actor playing a centenarian is almost unheard of. This is exactly what Big B has pulled off in '102 Not Out'. While even playing an Octogenarian has been somewhat rare in Bollywood which often glorifies youth, the Megastar is playing a 102-year-old man, making it truly a one of a kind character. In fact, even Rishi Kapoor plays a 75-year-old man, making it one of those really rare films where all central characters are senior citizens.
Big B is a versatile actor and performer and with this film, he proved that he is a rapper too! There were reports that Amitabh will be singing a song titled as 'Badumba' in the film. Turns out it is actually a cool rap track in Hindi and the actor shared a little preview of the song on his Instagram. In the video, he was seen spitting fire as he rapped the verses perfectly and that too with amazing speed and rhythm. Looks like there is nothing the veteran actor can't do!
