Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming film ‘Gully Boy’ is loosely based on popular underground rapper Vivian Fernandes popularly known as DIVINE. The film stars Ranveer Singh in lead role and DIVINE’s fans cannot wait to see his life on the celluloid.
Vivian started rapping when he was in school but he was never really serious about it, after studying the rap culture, his interest grew and he decided to take this profession as a full time job. According to him, he examined that the rap culture in India is limited to booze, chicks, money and drugs and he wanted to bring in a revolution because he believes that raps can be used thoroughly to motivate people.
It is his thinking that made him rap on society, life and other things based on moral grounds, slowly and gradually he created a niche for himself and stood out of the crowd and made a name for himself in the industry. DIVINE has composed many songs that ooze out the motivation in truckload quantity. His first track in Hindi, Yeh Mera Bombay, was an instant smash when it was released in November 2013. But he actually gained recognition with 2015 track Mere Gully Mein.
