Netflix’s first Indian original series, Sacred Games, is gathering all the praise from different quarters of the world. The series that was released last Friday in nearly 200 countries is a riveting neo-noir thriller and netizens are raving about the show. The series is written by Masan fame, Varun Grover and directed by the impeccable duo of Kashyap and Motwane.
Critics around the world are calling it as par with Netflix’s cult show Narcos. The global appeal of the show has hooked the audience and people are desperately waiting for the second season to drop in.
The Hollywood Reporter’s review mentioned, “Sacred Games is filled with those aforementioned storytelling quirks that viewers will likely just go with as they are distracted by the enticingly foreign elements that colour a familiar story that their brain tries to process, like a simultaneously recognizable but tweaked narrative. Many of Netflix’s most popular international series thrive on this slight disconnect — a story that feels familiar, American even, but is told through a lens that lets the other side of the world in.”
The Daily Express’ review showered praises on Nawazuddin Siddiqui and mentioned, “Siddiqui is superb as Gaitonde, who is one of the best TV villains for a while and is an anti-hero that you’re rooting for even though he’s a cold-blooded killer.”
Popular stand-up artist Daniel Fernandez saw the show and compared it with Narcos, he took to his Twitter handle to present his views. Here is a screenshot of his tweets:
According to reports, the second season will drop in by May 2019.
