2018 is turning out to be a year of ‘actors’ than ‘stars’. Stellar actors who are getting cast in supporting roles are giving such strong performances that they are outshining the lead ‘stars’ by a huge margin. Here are some of the best performances of 2018 that people fell in love with:-
1). Jaideep Ahlawat in Raazi
This is my favourite performance of the year. I agree that Alia did an incredible job but Jaideep Ahlawat’s portrayal of a straight-faced no-nonsense intelligence officer pumped life into the film. He owned the scenes in which he showcased his acting prowess.
2). Rajshri Deshpande in Sacred Games
After giving power-packed performances in S Durga and Angry Indian Goddesses, Rajshri turned to digital arena to give us a character so powerful that our jaws went down on the ground. She played the role of Subhadra in Netflix’s acclaimed drama Sacred Games and boy, she was fiery!
3). Vineet Kumar Singh in Mukkabaaz
When a man gives his everything for something, that something turns out to be marvellous and this is exactly what happened with Vineet’s portrayal of Shrawan. Vineet dedicated 3 years to become a pro boxer and the result was that his character was loved and lauded by one and all. After doing small roles in movies like Ugly and GOW, it was Shrawan’s character that gave him recognition. He is now getting ready for his upcoming release ‘Gold’ where he is sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar.
4). Geetanjali Rao in October
The film was very melancholic and beautiful. It had a certain depth that made people shed a tear or two. The film’s theme was longing and it needed actors who can portray that feeling on celluloid. While Varun Dhawan gave his career-best performance, it was Geetanjali Rao’s character that made us fall in love with the film.
5). Vicky Kaushal in Sanju
The ‘Masaan’ boy was destined to be a gem of an actor. Everyone went to watch Sanju to see Ranbir’s stellar performance and without a doubt, he nailed the role but Vicky Kaushal’s portrayal of Kamli received equal love and appreciation. The goofy, emotional and trustworthy Kamli was amiably portrayed by Vicky, he certainly gained a lot of fans after this performance.
