Bollywood has always been fascinated with cashing in the money on the star power, which is why they cast 50-year stars playing 20-year college guy. While sometimes the formula works (3 Idiots), other times it looks plain bad (Khatta Meetha).
But, sometimes, filmmakers dared to do the different and cast people based on their ability to play the role and age never became the barrier in these cases. Check out 5 best performances where actors played characters that were much older/younger than their actual age:-
1). Anupam Kher in Saaransh
The veteran actor was just 20-something when he performed the role of an aging father and he nailed the role with utter perfection.
2). Amitabh Bachchan in Paa
Apart from the prosthetics that were used to turn a 60-something man into a 12-year old boy, it was also Bachchan’s impeccable talent that made him catch the psychology of a boy and he lived that role thoroughly. We still remember the cutest dance he did.
3). Shweta Tripathi in Haramkhor
Now, this one is my favourite, Shweta was 32 when she played the character of a vulnerable teenage girl. He played the character with so much perfection that our jaws were down on the ground.
4). Kamal Hassan in Hindustani
Kamal Hassan needs no introduction; he is an institute in himself. While he has done many successful films, Hindustani remains one of his finest. He was 40 when he played the role of a 70-year-old man angry vigilante.
5). Rishi Kapoor in Kapoor and Sons
Rishi Kapoor played the role of a 99-year-old man who is always high on spirit and full of life. It must not have been easy for him to adopt the essence of a man who refuses to kill his high spirits.
