Akshay Kumar’s anticipated release of the year – ‘Gold’ is going to hit the theatres soon. The film is directed by Reema Kagti and is set against the backdrop of 1940’s. The film traces the journey of India’s first Olympic medal win in hockey in 1948.
Reportedly, more than 2000 actors were taken to recreate the feel and era of 1940, India. To provide the much-needed realism and authenticity, this period film needed a lot of props and sets. Even the costumes and makeup has been worked upon extensively to showcase the vintage lifestyle. The film has been shot across the UK and India, capturing the fascinating aspects of the pre-independent era.
Akshay Kumar is getting all the praises for his portrayal of a no-nonsense tough coach; everyone is loving his energy in the trailers that dropped in. Talking about his performance film’s co-producer Ritesh Sidwani said: "He is the most professional actor. He is dedicated and focused about his work. He comes on the sets and is there till you don't finish the shoot. It is not that he will go and sit in his vanity van or have meetings or talk to people. He is a terrific person. It was pleasure to work with him. I think this is the beginning of many associations."
