Rajkumar Rao is the actor who has clearly proved himself as one of the best actors we have today. Who doesn’t love him? He has always won our hearts with his performance. But for reaching to a position where he is right now he had to go through a lot of struggles. He went through a lot of hard steps to reach where he is right now.
Raj entered Bollywood in 2010 and since then he has been doing some really good films but it is now that he has started getting his dues and we are so happy for him. But before getting this respect and love which he always deserved for his beautiful acting he went through a tough time. He went and gave many auditions to bag a role in Dibakar Banerjee’s 2010 starrer Love, Sex Aur Dhoka.
In a recent interview with Humans of Bombay, Raj revealed that he had to pass many hurdles to be here and it wasn’t a rosy ride. There were times when he had no money and would ask his friends to share their meals.
“I made about Rs. 10,000 a month––but still, there were days where I didn’t have money, and I’d call my friends asking to share their meal. Giving up was never an option. There was never a plan B for me. I was constantly on the hunt for auditions – I met with countless ADs and casting directors. They would call me in for the smallest of roles and I would try to convince them to at least let me try out the bigger parts…but I was turned down. But I didn’t let any of it demotivate me – I believed that someone would see my talent” Rajkumar said.
Rajkumar is very inspired by Shahrukh Khan and while talking about him, he said,
“Growing up, I was fascinated with Shah Rukh Sir––I used to stare at his posters and often think that if an outsider could make it as big as him, then maybe there was hope for me. It wasn’t rosy though––I didn’t get a lot of work after I came to Mumbai. I only managed small ads here and there. Things you won’t even recollect––I’d be like the 10th person standing in some ad!”
