Aamir Khan the Bollywood perfectionist was present at the Watercup awards organised by the Paani foundation which is a non-profit organisation set up by the team of Satyamev Jayate. This organisation is fighting against the drought in rural Maharashtra.
This organisation is founded by Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao which is a really noble and great initiative. Many political leaders were also present at the event. So an event was hosted wherein villages compete to get the award of best watershed management work.
After the awards were given, Aamir spoke about the initiative that the NGO was making to bring in some changes. During this interaction he was asked if would ever join politics and he said,
“We are currently doing a lot of work and I think to do that work, there is no need to enter into politics. I am working in the creative field and people in this field have a major responsibility towards nation building and making the social fabric of the society strong.”
About extending this watershed movement he said,
“Currently, 75 tehsils have been covered under the watershed movement. We would like to go deeper rather going larger. We will now focus on areas like the soil health, grass land, crop planning and tree plantation.”
“We would conduct parallel competition for the villages where the watershed movement has already been done and we will give them training on the soil health, crop planning, tree plantation and grass land” he added.
Well, Aamir is definitely right, you don’t need to enter politics to do some good work.
