Damien Chazelle is back and we are ready with our wallets, Universal Pictures released a new trailer of the genius filmmaker’s upcoming film – First Man, which is essentially a biopic on Neil Armstrong and stars Ryan Gosling in the lead role. The La La Land director’s film was premiered at the venice Film Festival on Wednesday and met critical acclaim.
The new trailer swings between the professional and personal aspects of Neil’s life. He is seen prepping for the moon landing while his family is neck deep afraid of his decision to go up in the oblivion. There are shots of him preparing for the lunar mission, the rocket launch, being questioned by reporters and his constant struggle to make the mission happen.
The film boasts of a stellar cast, apart from Ryan, the film has Claire Foy (from The Crown) playing Neil’s wife, Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) as the first American to walk in space Ed White, Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights) and Shea Whigham (Boardwalk Empire) as Mercury Seven astronauts Deke Slayton and Gus Grissom, Corey Stroll (House of Cards) as Buzz Aldrin, Christopher Abbott (Girls) as Apollo 15 commander David Scott, Patrick Fugit (Almost Famous) as NASA Group 2 member Elliot See, and Pablo Schreiber (Orange Is the New Black) as Apollo 13 commander Jim Lovell among others.
With this film, Chazelle would want to hit a hat trick of successful critically acclaimed movies, his first two films ‘Whiplash’ and ‘La La Land’ were praised by each and every one. La La Land got him the award for the Best Director at Oscars 2017.
